The newly arrived grade eight Germistonians were warmly welcomed to GHS on their first day of school on the 15th of January 2020. Germiston High School parents, learners and teachers alike gathered in the Andre Beukes Quad to welcome the new grade 8 ‘Germs’ as members of the school. The grade eight learners proudly walked under the arch, through the school building and into the quad to the squawking sounds of “Baby Shark”. The bashful grade eight learners were given a very loud welcome by the school and were followed by the grand entrance of the matric learners. “The grade eights look like a very promising bunch of learners,” says Ms Shepherd, a grade eight form teacher. “They have a few weeks of orientation to the new school to complete before they go on the grade eight camp. They will have to wear name tags and carry around a pet rock.”
Mr Erwee, the grade eight Grade Head, looks forward to working with his staff to produce grade eights who will contribute to the Germiston High School way of life.
The grade eight form teachers are Ms Deyzel, Ms Fritz, Ms Maritz, Ms Marks, Ms Mngadi, Ms Shepherd, Mr Nobela, and Ms Mphuti.
